Starting to wonder what we are actually voting on... The federal election is coming up sooner than we realize and I am beginning to really wonder what I am voting for.I do realize that in order for me to have any place to bitch about politics, I have to vote. That just makes sense. But- it seems like this election is only about abortion and gay marriage. It is either vote for the guy who thinks it is an outrage that women have these procedures, or vote for the guy who hasn't said too much about it yet. Number one. Abortion has no place in politics. What happens should be between the woman, their doctor, and their God. Politicians have absolutely NO say in what happens regarding that. None whatsoever. Number two. Gay marriage has no place in politics either. Why do the politicians believe it to be in their best interest to declare it legal or not legal for a gay couple to get married? It doesn't involve them at all. What happens there is only between the partners. Number three. Religion has even a smaller place in politics. Just because Paul Martin is a self-proclaimed Catholic but doesn't condemn gay marriage or abortion, doesn't mean he is going against his beliefs. He has said before- there is a place and a time for religion. On Parliament Hill- there is no place for it. Now whatever. You can think that I am totally off my rocker but if my prime minister is a Jehovah Witness and says that we are not going to celebrate Christmas because he doesn't believe in it and he is leader of the party in power- does that mean we should all listen to him? If Stephen Harper comes into power, he has already said he has no tolerance of abortion or gay marriage. His party has gone to far as to calling the Liberals butchers with coat hangers. Is this the kind of guy I want running my country? Heck no. For both these controversies, those political wonders insist counselling to be a wise decision. Great. No problem. I am sure there are some people who might need a little advice before or after their abortion. Or maybe a confused teen needs some ideas before they jump into a gay relationship. What about the middle-aged men hooked on Viagra? Don't you think they might need counselling too? Or how about the single mom of 4? Do you think she might need someone to talk to? Get some help? I was hoping to hear some sort of platform on how our taxes will be lowered, or how gas taxes will drop dramatically to make it easier for the average Canadian to survive. I want to hear about how medical care will be taken care of more by the government, and how insurance premiums will quit skyrocketing. I don't want to be bombarded with how important counselling is to women having abortions and how gay marriage is just not right. I don't want either one of those jokers running the country. The Green Party is looking better and better each day. I am not interested in living in a country like Iran where religion is politics. 0 Comments:
