Megan, I love ya, and I as I have mentioned in the past directly to you, I quite enjoy your blog.
However, at the risk of certain readers claiming that I have "re-framed" the issue - if you don't enjoy or welcome discordant opinions, then do not allow the "comments" function to be possible.
It begins and ends right there.
Beyond that, quit advertizing the existence of your blog - I would not have been in a position of "if you don't like it, don't read it" had you kept your website a secret.
Not to harp upon the issue, but as you have mentioned your esteem towards the point of not "writing if you can't annoy someone".......... What is the point of ANY of it, if you wish to contend a mindset of "my ideas are valid and yours are not?"
Let us be honest - no one likes to be told that they are disagreed with.
Few like to be told that they do not share public opinion. Indeed, it would be forever debatable where the majority could side on your piece about the parade - in this particular case, ir is DEFINITELY up for debate.
While I wish to say that I have succeeded more than I have failed in this respect, my aim has been to emulate the words of a man far more wise that I:
"My aim is not consistency - only the truth."
If your aim has only been to maintain YOUR truth - that's fine, but do not allow the chance for others to refute, comment, or even agree with you.
To that end, stick to:
"What's the point of writing if I can't have my way."
