And I survivied. I'll be the first one to admit, I'm not exactly the poster child for camping. The idea of freezing my butt off while sleeping in a tent, peeing in the bush and potentially being eaten alive by spiders really isn't my idea of a good time. I would prefer somewhere with the option of room service, a flushable toilet and crisp Egyptian sheets. This past weekend though, I signed up for the wicked-unfamiliar. I was told "this is no-amenity camping; no running water, no toilets, no anything". I'm tough, kinda. I was a little concerned about breaking a nail but whatever... they'll grow back. We joined the swarm of RV's and headed out to BC on Friday after work and drove directly into a hail storm. No sweat - it'll pass. Got closer to Invermere and realized that there was another darker cloud coming towards us. That's cool, that too shall pass. Stopped for a quick bite and realized that all the power was out in the town, including the water system, so Subway it was. Drove to the campsite and it began raining. No, actually not raining, but pouring. Quickly put up the biggest tarp I've ever seen and as soon as the last tie was tied, it stopped raining. Made some drinks and we began sitting around the fire, shooting the shit for a couple hours. Ok more than a couple hours. Went to bed and woke up wondering, where's the food? Who needs food when you have Malibu and Pineapple. And so it began. We were going to do things like bike, check out waterfalls, maybe go into town and kick it with the locals - you know. Instead, we poured another drink and kicked it super lazy-style by the fire all day. Had a nap or two, read a magazine, played with the fire and listened to some tunes while getting to know a fellow camper; a super cool Prada and Tiffany wearing camper. Like seriously - match made in heaven as far as camping was concerned. Drinking and lounging lasted well into the evening... and early morning. When the peaks of the mountains showed a hint of the morning sun, it was time to sleep. Woke up at noon and packed up - it was time to find some food and some water and header home to get back to reality. I broke one nail, got some sun and had a blast. Pretty stoked about heading out again... sometime... to do the exact same thing again. 1 Comments: Just so I understand - this was no amenity camping with an RV?
