Back from the Vancity tour.

Was only there for like... well... 2 days and really didn't get to do as much as I had hoped to do but... I got to see my absolutely freakin' adorable grandma. Her line "I'm tall... for a short person..."

More stories to come...

Oh that's good.

Monday, July 23

So not built for this.

Today is, I don't know, the 700th day it is suppose to reach 30 degree weather. I'm pretty over this. I'm bitchy, cranky and tired of being sweaty and gross. Yah ok that might just be the pms but nevertheless, give me some rain, or some snow or some fucking wind.

Site issues.

Yah ok so not sure what's going on with my site. I'll have to figure it out... bear with me.

Stampede 2007 is so over.

And I'll drink to it being over anyday.

Calgary Herald Q

The city is once again trying to come out looking like the good guy. Instead, while they run their full page ads in the local papers, they look like losers. I think the paramedics are right to say enough is enough and look to a strike.

Calgary Herald Q.

How's Al doing, you ask?

Well he's still in my custody. I've tried. I really have. I drive down the streets with my window open in case someone asks about him... but so far I've only been asked for my number - not about the ponies. I have posted an ad in Auto-Trader, on Craigslist, Kijiji, ScotsAds and around the office. So far though, this is what I have been receiving:

You've received the following reply to your "My beautiful little power-wheels." Ad on Kijiji:

From: Tim(TIMBITS8@xx123.NET)

lol........excellent ad!! Hope you sell "him" Have a good day Tim

Good luck, and thanks for using Kijiji.

It's great and all but I would prefer not to get messages unless they say "great - who do I make the cheque out to?!" Maybe it's not the right market for a car as wonderful and sexy as mine. Or maybe people can't handle the true power that Al exudes. I'll go with the latter.

Mmmmm juicy trainwrecks.

For the past 2 years, I hate to admit it, but I was helplessly addicted to Laguna Beach and The Hills. Something about their incredible never-ending drama was like crack to me. I couldn’t not watch the trainwreck every Wednesday. This new season brings new and even better drama and I am a little saddened that I don't have the same set-up I once did. I mean sure, I can watch tv - but now I'll get mocked to death about my choice in show.

Maybe somehow I'll have to get the guys to get sucked into the Hills vortex just as I did. I mean how can you not love the new ta-tas Heidi is sporting? Or the on again off again romance with Jason and Lauren? How about Whitney? Oh she's as darling as a church girl. And then there's Spencer - how did he end up sharing my last name? That's definitely a point against my family tree.

Thanks Mike, for finding this.

My little power-wheel.

So Alistair is giving me grief and I'm having an extra hard time with this one. Plain and simple, I can't afford him. He was strictly an emotional purchase and I have paid dearly for it for the past 2 years.

1. He's my baby.
2. The thought of parting ways with him makes me a little weak in the knees.
3. I had hopes of being with him until he could no longer go.

Goes by the name of Alistair. Loves long drives through the mountains, passing slower vehicles, and rowdy music. Enjoys being talked to, the leather steering wheel 'petted' when he has done something right, and parallel parking. But alas, I need to find him a new home. A new owner to love him and care for him as I have done.

Fiji Blue. 4 doors. Standard. Sunroof. 3M rock strip (installed by BMW) on the hood and mirrors. iPod adapter. AC. Cruise. Interior carpets and mats. Leather dash, gear shifter and steering wheel.

Alistair is a mere 2 years old (aw... in 6 days!) and has 51,000 kms on him and each one he has enjoyed more than the last and never once complained. He has fond memories of driving to Tofino for surfing trips, traveling the roads of Saskatchewan, Washington State and BC. He loves the sun, the beach, and making sure everyone is comfortable inside.

For $20,000, this little gem could be yours.

And I survivied.

I'll be the first one to admit, I'm not exactly the poster child for camping. The idea of freezing my butt off while sleeping in a tent, peeing in the bush and potentially being eaten alive by spiders really isn't my idea of a good time. I would prefer somewhere with the option of room service, a flushable toilet and crisp Egyptian sheets.

This past weekend though, I signed up for the wicked-unfamiliar. I was told "this is no-amenity camping; no running water, no toilets, no anything". I'm tough, kinda. I was a little concerned about breaking a nail but whatever... they'll grow back.

We joined the swarm of RV's and headed out to BC on Friday after work and drove directly into a hail storm. No sweat - it'll pass. Got closer to Invermere and realized that there was another darker cloud coming towards us. That's cool, that too shall pass.

Stopped for a quick bite and realized that all the power was out in the town, including the water system, so Subway it was. Drove to the campsite and it began raining. No, actually not raining, but pouring. Quickly put up the biggest tarp I've ever seen and as soon as the last tie was tied, it stopped raining.

Made some drinks and we began sitting around the fire, shooting the shit for a couple hours. Ok more than a couple hours. Went to bed and woke up wondering, where's the food? Who needs food when you have Malibu and Pineapple. And so it began.

We were going to do things like bike, check out waterfalls, maybe go into town and kick it with the locals - you know. Instead, we poured another drink and kicked it super lazy-style by the fire all day. Had a nap or two, read a magazine, played with the fire and listened to some tunes while getting to know a fellow camper; a super cool Prada and Tiffany wearing camper. Like seriously - match made in heaven as far as camping was concerned.

Drinking and lounging lasted well into the evening... and early morning. When the peaks of the mountains showed a hint of the morning sun, it was time to sleep. Woke up at noon and packed up - it was time to find some food and some water and header home to get back to reality.

I broke one nail, got some sun and had a blast. Pretty stoked about heading out again... sometime... to do the exact same thing again.
